First solo trip to SEA with no set plans

Hello, I bought a one way ticket to BKK in late November. I have no set plans as of right now. I read many personal experiences from people and say their plans never go as planned(for the better, usually) and figured why not just go. I have rough ideas of what I want to do and where I want to go. I couldn't be any more excited. What are some good tips and tricks that people have to offer. I have purchased an Osprey Farpoint 55 that I will be using.

One question I have is that I plan on taking a train or bus out of Thailand at or before the 30 day period without needing a visa. I only have a one way ticket in, will it be easy to bypass customs without a departing ticket?
