Planning my first cross country road trip by myself
Moving back home after living in the US for 5 years I want to go out with a bang.
I would love to travel from LA to NY and sell my car there and get on a plane.

How much money should I save? I have a Honda Civic 2002 and about 4-8weeks (I can go longer or shorter depending on work/money) am trying to not spend a lot of money. I am open to staying on campgrounds, hostels, hotels as long as it is relatively cheap and relatively safe.

I would be driving by myself and as a 5’2 woman how safe is it?
Experience wise: I have camped before (I have a tent) but never solo. I have taken a several shorter road trips of a week byself and I spend a couple of years with an excessive commute so I feel comfortable driving on different roads. I have been an expat/international student for years so I am okay with being in new situations and I have backpacked accross south east Asia for a couple of months so I know I like my own company. However in Asia I very much did the backpackers route and even though I travel by myself I often hang out with other travelers at hostels. I don’t know if that will happen in the US and I would feel too cautious to just tell random people I am traveling alone. -
where should I go? I am planning on going somewhere in July/August so even though I would love to see the south I am afraid it might just be too hot. I have also never seen north/mid America so I think that would be nice to see. In my 5 years in the states I spend mostly in California. I went to Louisiana a couple of times and NYC (both by plane although I drove through the state) as well, and I drove to Vegas once. I kinda only know the rest of the states from movies so I am ready to see it with my own eyes.

I don’t know how the covid restrictions will be like in other states but I am planning on traveling once I get fully vaccinated.
