How planned should a trip be?
In early July I am flying out from the US to start backpacking/open ended travelling the world, starting in Europe and heading east. My question is how much should I wing it (preferred) and how much should I plan?
I've got a basic idea of the places I want to go but would prefer to have an open itinerary so that I can take advantage of spur of the moment decisions, such as when you meet new people or hear of a new event or place to check out.
But on the flip side of that I worry about arriving in a place and not being able to find lodging for example.
How do you feel about these things?
