Spring Break Road Trip from CO to CA and need advice!

My friends and I are planning a western road trip for our last spring break in college. There are 7 of us, all age 21-22, and we go to school in Toledo, Ohio. We have done a decent amount of research, but only one of us have taken a prolonged trip west, and would really value and appreciate the input of anyone with some insight to help us out.

We are all available to leave the night of Thursday, February 28th and need to be back in Toledo, Ohio on Sunday night of March 10th (9-ish days). We mainly value getting to see some amazing views and great hiking along the way. We aren't big into the party atmosphere, but plan to go out on our last day in San Francisco if time allows. We are all pretty cheap, and plan to rent a van (looking at Ford Transits) to drive around in and sleep in most nights.

Our tenative plan is to start in Colorado and end in California. We decided we do not want to waste time and drive across the Midwest, so we plan to take a flight from Detroit to Denver. In Denver, we would pick up the van to drive in. From Denver, the stops we tentatively have planned chronologically are Pikes Peak, Moab/Arches, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Horseshoe Bend, Grand Canyon, Sequoia, Yosemite, and San Francisco. Roadtrippers is below. I think this probably an aggressive plan to hit all these spots, but this is mainly to keep track of all the places we could reasonably stop at along the way, knowing we probably won't hit them all.

Some advice we are looking for:

Van rental (Ford Transit) is looking to be $2000+ to pick up in Denver and drop off in San Francisco. With everyone under age 25, what will be the best option for us to rent a car(s) to get around and sleep in?

We have been using google flights to find flights, and picked Denver and San Fran because they are pretty cheap for one way flights, is there any strategy to find the cheapest flights?

All parts of this trip are fluid and able to be changed. What concepts are we overlooking? What sights do we need to see along the way? How can we keep the cost down as much as possible?

Thank you for your time and thoughts!
