Traveling to France for 3.5 weeks: should I visit multiple cities or fewer cities with longer duration?

Hi all,

I (F/23) am traveling solo out of the US for the first time. My first week will be spent with a family friend in Paris and my last 2.5 weeks will be on my own. I am having trouble deciding if I should visit multiple cities (I see more, but experience less of each) or to stay grounded in fewer cities (and experience more of those particular cities). So here are the options I have come up with for weeks 2 and 3

A. Multiple city option: After Paris visit Lyon, Marsielle, Aix-en-Provence, Nice, back to Paris for a few days then fly out home.

B. Second multiple city option: Remain in Paris after first week, but make day trips to Lyon, London, Belgium (city suggestion?).

C. Less Busy option- After week 1 in Paris stay in Lyon for second week and Paris again for last week solo. Possibly make a day trip to London.

Any suggestions on cities to visit that I did not list is appreciated!

For background, I am most interested in using public transportation to get around and am perfectly happy with walking everywhere as well. I may also consider buying a cheap used bike. My interest include photography, anything artsy (think paint shops or posting up somewhere and drawing what I see), going to markets, visiting cool shops/cafes, wandering, seeing a live music show (think small jazz cafe or low-key options), hiking, bike riding, and bars where it's easy to talk to people. So, generally spending time as if I live there. Since my trip is 3.5 weeks I am not opposed to doing some short assignment volunteering.

I can't speak much French apart from "Bonjour, je m'appelle mamakitty94. Comment ça va? Je ne parle pas très bien français. Je suis de Californie aux États-Unis. Parlez-vous anglais?" And "Où est la gare, s'il vous plaît" ?

Also, I am a self supporting college student. I have read several times on here that people allow themselves $100 a day, but I cannot afford that for three weeks. I am perfectly happy with the listed activities above as well as consuming cheap street food/bakeries/fresh produce at markets/etc. Though I am also interested in great cheeses and wine.

Thanks !

TLDR: In France for 3.5 weeks. I speak little French, like cheap street food, and wandering around taking photos. Stay in Paris or visit multiple cities in France + other countries?
