All of next June to travel before school + first ever big trip: Europe vs National Parks out West?
I'm a 22 year old guy who will have 1 or so month off next June-July before school. I've basically never really left the midwest and desperately need to go somewhere while I still can. I'll be by myself. Budget will be up to around $6000 at most, but the less the better. I'm most interested in sight-seeing and casual photography, hiking, and food. Other things I want: I do really want to see real mountains some time. I also want to visit London at some point in my life. I sort of want to use Spanish too since I learned that in school and haven't used it. Overall I'd like a trip that's structured enough that it's not super stressful, but still not extremely predictable/guided/touristy.
For now, I'm considering three options:
- Take a train out West to Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, etc. and do lots of hiking.
- See the main sights in Western Europe (London, etc, maybe go down to Spain) (I feel like this is something better suited for a group vs the other ones maybe?)
- Hiking in Scandinavia or Eastern Europe (No idea how long this takes, maybe could combine it with 2.?)
I have no idea how to start considering which one would be best for me between Europe or Western US. Has anyone had to make a similar choice?
