Hey all, I'm looking for advice on an itinerary for an 8-day solo backpacking trip to Vietnam from November 20th until 27th. I booked my return flight from HCMC on the 28th. Prior to Vietnam, I'll be with a friend traveling to Siem Reap (2 days), Thai beaches (3 days) and Chaing Mai (2 days).

I plan on flying to Hanoi from Bangkok on November 20th and making my way down south. I don't have anything booked in Vietnam yet besides this.

This will be my first time backpacking solo and I'm looking forward to it. I'm 29, male, single and don't have a budget. I think staying in hostels makes the most sense for the socializing aspect - likely staying in a private room if available. Willing to fly to different cities to save time.

Looking for suggestions on an itinerary given the short time frame and hostel recommendations for meeting people.
