Currently, Biman has 2 branded new 737-300ERs, 2 old Airbus A310-300s and 2 Boeing 737-800s. This is why, Biman are now flying to 19 destination including two domestic routes.

It is true that the Dhaka Airport has handled 5.6 million passengers in 2012 but Biman did not see profits. However, other foreign and private airlines have done excellent profits.

Biman finally decided to add more 2 brand new 737-300ER which has already named as ‘Akash Prodip’ and ‘Ranga Provat’. These two aircraft will join between February and March. 2014. As a result, Biman has to operate profitable routes such as China, Canada, USA and Vietnam. It has been noted that Biman will start to China as new route however they would like to resume other three non-profitable routes as they are expecting it would be profitable if they could use branded aircraft.

In addition, foreign passenger carrier increased up to 28 and cargo foreign airline up to 9 with 36 cities both domestic and international destination. On average 190 aircraft operate per day from Dhaka with no time delay.

Recently, Biman has leased a Boeing 747 and a Boeing 767 for hajj because Biman has to carry 50% hajj passengers and rest 50% by Saudi Arabia Airline. This time 88,911pilgrims will perform hajj. So, Biman is planning to carry 44,500 of them. This time, pilgrims can go for hajj from Chittagong and Sylhet because Biman has planned direct flights from these two domestic airports to Saudi Arabia.
